Plein Air - Stone Mountain Park - April 2nd, 2023

This painting is 12" by 16", fluid acrylics on cold press watercolor paper.  It is the results of five hours of painting outside followed by a day and a half of studio painting.

Plein Air Painting - March 24th 2023, downtown Duluth

 

Our plein air painting group went to downtown Duluth to do some painting.  I spent a little over four hours painting the tree.  Later in the evening, I started on the background by referencing photos.  I finished the painting on Saturday evening.  Really it is a plein air painting and studio painting hybrid.  I thoroughly enjoyed painting this tree and I am glad it took no more than two days to complete.

We will be painting at Stone Mountain park next!

Hawk painting for Elements Art Show

This is my hawk painting for an art show that some friends and I are planning.  The show revolves around elements.  This hawk represents the element of air.  I will do three more animal paintings for the other three elements - earth, fire and water.  This hawk painting is fluid acrylics on canvas and is 24" by 30".

This painting is 24" by 30", fluid acrylics on canvas.

Deer Nouveau

 

This painting is 9.25" by 15", fluid acrylics on cold press watercolor paper.  It is the 14th painting I have completed this year as well as the last of the year.  Happy New Year everyone!

Deer and Jones Bridge Park Paintings

 

Jones Bridge Park painting is done on illustration board - 16" by 20".  The deer painting is on a much larger canvas - 24" by 30".  I used fluid acrylics for both.

Pumpkins and Wolf Landscape

 

Both of these paintings are 24" by 30", fluid acrylics on canvas.  The wolf painting took me a little longer to complete because of the dark background.  Dark backgrounds require more paint and typically increase the amount of time required to finish a painting.
