I finished this painting yesterday. I designed it so that it can be cropped to a square for an album cover. It is 12 by 16 inches, fluid acrylics on coldpress watercolor paper. I had to adjust the colors in the final scan, paynes gray always seems to scan way too saturated.

New Paintings!
Hey all! Summer camp is over so I had time to paint! I haven't uploaded work here in a while so here are three new paintings. Three of them are sketch book paintings, the tiger is painting on a sheet of 12 by 16 coldpress watercolor paper. The sketch book paintings are all 9 by 12. All of them are painted with golden fluid acrylics.

Eagle Acrylics and some Yellow Flowers
Hey all, finished another painting, this one is dominated by purple. Also I start teaching summer camp in a couple weeks so I will be drawing and painting in my sketchbook instead of doing full illustrations. The yellow flowers are the first painting done for my sketchbook. It is some sort of flower from my Mother's garden.

Owl Acrylics 2
Hello Everyone! Here is another owl painting. It is 12 by 16 inches, fluid acrylics on cold press watercolor paper. I wanted this one to appear like it is dominated by red even though there isn't really a true "red" present in the painting. Red is a difficult color so there are a lot of yellows, yellow-oranges and reddish browns in this painting. I used four different pigments to complete this painting - burnt sienna, pyrrole red, primary yellow and primary cyan. I find that so long as I have access to any yellow, red and blue, I can complete any painting. Of course a lot of mixing is required but I find if I limit the number of pigments, I get a much stronger illustration or painting in the end.

Owl Acrylics
Happy New Year Everyone! I finished this painting tonight and got it scanned as well. No adjustments to the colors were needed this time which is nice. For this painting I wanted it to be dominated by green. I used Turquois, Permanent Green Light, Green Gold, Pyrrole Red and Paynes Gray. I learned an important art lesson as well - a painting is finished if there is no pathway for improving the painting. This is difficult for me to do because I enjoy rendering. I actually could do another weeks worth of rendering to the owl if I really wanted to. I will paint another owl next but it will be dominated by reds, oranges and yellows.
